Friendship is Magic, part 1 (Mare in the Moon) Discussion

Use this thread for the discussion of episode 1, Friendship is Magic, part 1 (Mare in the Moon).
Personally, I thought this episode was okay. It did introduce all of the characters nicely, but some of their personalities weren't quite pinned down. Fluttershy seemed to be into music, which is a trait she never had elsewhere, and Pinkie seemed to be hyperactive, which, while true, was a bit overwhelming at first.
